‘Gifted’ is an all-inclusive class aimed at young children that lets them explore music and art to enhance their creativity.

It is a structured programme that is educational while teaching children basic music elements. Using games, songs and movement children will learn about rhythm, tempo, pitch, dynamics and basic knowledge of the piano. Each lesson also has an arts and crafts section which ties into the week’s lesson. This helps develop fine motor skills.

Unlike other pre-school music and movement programmes, ‘Gifted’ has music education and arts which makes it a worthwhile class for children and extends their knowledge at an age where they are learning all the time.

Glass Ceiling Arts Collective is an Arts charity; it’s a community who believe that young people with disabilities should not be defined by their disability but, rather, they should be afforded the opportunity to enjoy the performing arts alongside their non disabled peers. The benefits for the young person with a disability are untold. Similarly, the benefits for young people without disabilities, and indeed the whole of society, are untold too.

Our kaupapa is informed by the government’s Enabling Good Lives initiative, which suggests that it is to the benefit of all New Zealanders that we build inclusive communities, and that disabled people are supported to live an everyday life in everyday places; and are regarded as citizens with opportunities for learning, employment, having a home and family, and social participation - like others at similar stages of life.
